Which insects overwinter in Würzburg's green spaces? As part of our research project UrbanPArt, we are setting up traps throughout the city to find out.

The Juniorprofessorship for Applied Biodiversity Sciences is looking for student research assistants in the project UrbanPArt for the upcoming field season as well as for lab work starting in March 2025.

At the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland in Freising, we presented our current research on the topics of forest and urban ecology.

Forest management undoubtedly has an effect on forest structure and biodiversity. Yet, the Black-and-White picture that often is drawn and concludes that uneven-aged single tree selection should be preferred over even-aged regular management, could not be confirmed by a recent study from Dr. Britta Uhl and her colleagues, which was published in August 2024 in “Biodiversity and Conservation”.

The fieldwork phase of the UrbanPart project started in May 2024. About 40 grassland sites have been sampled.

We presented results from our recent forest projects at the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland in Leipzig.

Das bioversum Jagdschloss Kranichstein arbeitet zur Zeit fleißig an einer neuen Ausstellung rund um das Thema Insekten, Spinnen, Wiesen und Mähen. Was genau sind eigentlich Insekten und Spinnen? Was versteht man unter Wiesen und wie sind sie entstanden? Was hat die Heuernte mit Insekten zu tun und warum betrifft das Thema Mähen nicht nur Personen mit eigenem Rasen?

Darmstadts Wälder leiden, für jedermann sichtbar, unter den Folgen des Klimawandels, der die zum Teil ungünstigen Standortbedingungen noch verstärkt. Darmstadts Wälder regenerieren sich aber auch. Von der Dynamik und dem Zusammenwirken beider Entwicklungen profitieren unter anderem viele Kleinlebewesen. Wie dies geschieht und mit welchen Konsequenzen auch für die Forstwirtschaft, dies untersuchen jetzt Forscher und Forscherinnen der TU Darmstadt.
