Research interests
I am interested in the diverse effects of human intervention on nature. These include environmental pollution, land use, urbanisation, habitat fragmentation and climate change. My focus is on faunal organism groups. In recent years, I have been particularly interested in arthropod communities and how their composition, functional characteristics and activity shift under changing environmental conditions.
In the UrbanPArt project, I am investigating how landscape management and the connectivity of urban green spaces influence the biodiversity and phenology of arthropods. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the conditions that promote species-rich communities. This knowledge should contribute to the design and maintenance of green spaces in such a way that they contribute to the long-term conservation of biodiversity in urban areas while also serving as places of recreation.
