Lecture 4: Results 1. GSE54839 from GEO - the underlying experiment investigates the differential expression of genes in a chronic cocaine abuse - the Illumina HumanHT-12 V3.0 expression beadchip was used - 2 conditions: control and cocaine addiction 2. GEO2R: DEG analyses - the gene GBP2 shows the most significant differential expression with an adj.P.Val of 0.000347 - GBP2 has the higher average expression value for condition cocaine addiction showing a logFC of 0.503 (if control vs cocaine addiction was defined) - the logFC is the logarithmic Fold Change (from log-transformed data) of a gene that expression values are compared between two conditions - the adj.P.Val is the adjusted (or corrected) p value for multiple comparison testing to control the false discovery rate (FDR) 3. Genevestigator - the two main types are: "Which conditions regulate a gene?" and "Which genes are regulated in a chosen condition?" 4. INSR - the logarithmic average expression of INSR in the rectum is 16.03 - 630 cancer categories are listed where INSR is involved - the log2-FC for INSR in the influenza virus condition is 2.41. This means that the expression is higher compared to the control condition
