International HUPO 2024 in Dresden

10/24/2024

With the international HUPO 2024 in Dresden, one of the major proteomics conferences came to Germany this year. The Warscheid lab was there.

Since the decoding of the human genome, it has been clear how decisively proteins influence all bodily functions. […] Research into molecular causes is the basis for new therapeutic approaches and active substances, including against cancer and infectious diseases. The diverse scientific program at the HUPO World Congress ranges from the application of new technologies to the promotion of biological knowledge and global health.

This press release from the international HUPO 2024 website illustrates the conference's aim of bringing together methodological and clinical research and catalyzing medical advances based on proteomics.

In addition to translational topics, this year's conference therefore focused on current informatics developments such as neural networks and language models, which have enormous potential to make proteomic analysis faster, more sensitive and more automatable and thus pave the way for clinical applications. The scientists Hirak Das, Lakshita Sharma, Johannes Zimmermann and Julian Bender from the Warscheid working group presented their current research work at the conference and were able to obtain feedback and assessments from other experts as part of their poster presentations.
