First sampling in the “Global Change Experimental Facility” completed
DFG-Funded Project Examines the Impact of Climate Change on Grassland Ecosystems: 150 Soil Samples and 30 Samples of Aboveground Fauna Collected
Our DFG funded project investigates global-change effects on in above-belowground multitrophic grassland communities. The “Global Change Experimental Facility”, short “GCEF”, is perfectly suited for our research, as it addresses the effect of climate change on different forms of land use. In the past weeks, 150 soil samples for multiple analyses as well as 30 aboveground fauna samples were taken. These will be analyzed over the next months to gain important insights about the effects of climate change and land-use intensity on our ecosystems.
Many thanks to the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) and its staff, who manage the GCEF as well as the research group of Prof. Dr. Nico Eisenhauer at iDiv in Leipzig, which supports us with field work and analyses.
