We investigate how climate and land-use change alter biodiversity, ecological communities and ecosystem functions. We combine perspectives from global change ecology with the study of above- and below-ground interactions in ecosystems.
Our research ranges from local communities to global biodiversity patterns. A particular concern of ours is the exchange between science and society in order to make ecological findings usable for current environmental and nature conservation issues.
In our teaching, we teach key concepts and methods of biodiversity research in the context of global environmental change - from field ecology, statistics and modelling to experimental ecology and conservation biology.
