Welcome to our Department

Our research investigates the control of cell proliferation and the mechanisms that deregulate proliferation in human tumors. Much of our work focuses on human MYC proteins. These are oncoproteins that drive the genesis of virtually all human tumors, and we aim to understand why they are so important for tumorigenesis. We are also investigating how DNA repair and RNA metabolism are linked. A mechanistic focus of our ongoing work is to understand how processes that occur in the nucleus, such as transcription and DNA replication, alter the communication of tumor cells with the immune system. In addition to mechanistic work, we are exploring many avenues to find new molecules for tumor therapy. For example, we are developing PROTACs with partners in the pharmaceutical industry and are looking for new drugs and strategies to enable the immune system to eradicate tumor cells.
