Spindle apparatus

Boveri's drawing from 1910 shows a fully developed spindle apparatus during the first division of an Ascaris egg. The chromosomes are arranged in the metaphase plate. The rays of the spindle apparatus originate from the centrosomes (coloured in black) at the spindle poles.
