My research focuses on the communication in social insect colonies, its evolution and the role of ecological contraints on the development of communication systems. I am interested in the sensory modalities used by the animals as well as in specific communication strategies allowing for a fast information transfer between individuals. My research approaches these questions utilizing various model systems in particular leaf cutting and nectar feeding ant species.
