The mRNA trap

It is largely unknown, how an mRNA leaves the nucleus, in particular, how the molecule interacts with the nuclear pores and how export is regulated. In trypanosomes, we have the unique advantage that mRNA export can occur co-transcriptionally and we can therefore "trap" mRNAs in export and study these interactions. We use a range of proximity labelling techniques on protein and RNA to understand these interactions better. The project is a joined project with the laboratory of Martin Zoltner (Biocev, Prague).
