A recent article in Nature career blames the German Academic System to favour bullying, due to its hierarchic structure. Is this true? And what can we do about it? This site is in progress.

Science should be fun. The main source of frustration should be the non-working experiment. Yet, sometimes, there is frustration and conflict at the workplace that is unrelated to experiments and that cannot be solved easily. Fortunately, the University of Würzburg is here to help, with many offers, targeted at different situations and different people. The aim is to solve the conflict, and/or, to train you how to solve things better in the future. Whether you are a PI, a Technician or other staff member, a Postdoc or a student: there are help-offers and training-courses aimed at every specific need. Try it out! I did. Several times. Recently, I agreed to become Ombudsperson for the standing commission of scientific misbehaviour, to help more actively that, once again, it's just the missing band on the Coomassie-gel that causes frustration.

This site is in progress, and it will be regularely updated. Anything missing? Just contact me.

Conflict management

If you are in any kind of conflict at the work place, that cannot be solved by yourself, the conflict management is a good place to go. They will help you, in a confidential way. They can also guide you to other options. Not all offers are visible on the English version of the website, thus, I recommend to stick to the German one and translate.
